What is Zion House Ministries?
Zion House is the name of our home cell group ministry. We believe that the "church" of Jesus Christ is not a building or an organization, but rather people -- all people who confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The church is the dwelling place of God's spirit here on earth where all men can come and become members of God's household. (Ephesians 2:19-22)
The Bible shows us that this ministry of "building ourselves together" is best accomplished in small groups. When Jesus began his public ministry on earth, He chose 12 men with whom He shared His life. He ate with them, lived with them, and spent all of His time and ministry in their presence. He was more than their teacher -- He was their mentor. They learned to pattern their lives after His. And when the time came to begin building His church on earth, it was these close friends, not the thousands who heard Him teach, who inherited the task.
This is the way we ought to live today. We read in Acts 2:46 that the early church "continued to meet together in the temple courts" and they "broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts." This verse best describes the pattern of Christian life for us all. It is important to meet together in corporate worship regularly, as we do every Sunday morning at Mt. Zion. It is equally important to meet together in smaller groups where we can pray for one another, encourage one another, and build one another up.
We hope that you come and visit one of our Zion Houses soon. There you'll find a place of encouragement, hope and love -- a place where you belong.
